“No to Execution Tuesday” campaign for the Third consecutive week in Brussels

The “No to Execution Tuesday” campaign is an initiative by political prisoners in Iran, who have been on hunger strike every Tuesday for 36 weeks in 21 prisons. The Association of Cultures and Human Rights has joined this campaign in Brussels, which is now entering its third week.

Since Pezeshkian took office in August, more than 190 people have been executed, including 10 women, with one public execution. Currently, 42 protesters arrested during the 2022 uprising are on death row, as well as three MEK/PMOI members. Professor Javaid Rehman, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran until July 2024, concluded in his latest report that the executions in Iran stem from the “genocide” of political prisoners in 1988.

Next week, this action will coincide with the World Day Against the Death Penalty. Protesters will gather at Place de Luxembourg, in front of the European Parliament, to call on the European Union and Belgium to pressure the Iranian regime to abolish the death penalty. This campaign will continue every Tuesday for several weeks.
