Iranians call on EU Summit to impose comprehensive sanctions against Iran’s clerical regime for warmongering, terrorism, and the pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Event:

On Friday, March 22, simultaneous with the EU Summit in Brussels, members of the Iranian diaspora in Belgium, supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), held a rally in Schuman roundabout, calling on the EU to take a firm policy against the Iranian regime’s terrorism and warmongering and to side with the Iranian people in their strive to end religious dictatorship and establish a free and democratic republic in Iran.

They highlighted the regime’s meddling in regional conflicts through its proxies and its involvement in the conflict in Ukraine, along with its acts of terrorism in Europe and the worsening human rights situation in Iran.

The vociferous protesters carried the three-colored Iranian flag with the lion and sun insignia. The main banner of the rally with light yellow backgrounds read: “Blacklist Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Recognize the Iranian people’s struggle to overthrow the regime & the youth’s fight against the IRGC, and Shut Down Iranian Regime’s Embassies.”

Demands:

They called on the EU and member states to designate the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) as a terrorist organization and to recognize the right of Iranian people to rebel against the regime and its repressive forces, especially the IRGC. They also demanded the implementation of comprehensive sanctions against the regime for its warmongering and terrorism, as well as the adoption of other pertinent measures, such as banning Iranian regime airlines from European airspace.

The NCRI supporters’ rally took place against the backdrop of the international community’s observation of escalating nuclear, terrorist, and warmongering activities by the regime, as well as the evident failure of the appeasement policy towards this regime. The nationwide boycott of the sham elections by the Iranian people this March serves as a clear validation of their widespread support for regime change for freedom and democracy in Iran.

The participants expressed their support for Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, NCRI President-elect and her Ten-Point plan for future Iran, based on free elections, separation of religion and state, gender equality, and pluralism.

They also declared their support for her remarks made on March 9, 2024, offering the Iranian Resistance’s view on the solution to the current crisis. She said, “The people’s uprisings and the September 2022 uprising, along with numerous acts of resistance and operations by the Resistance Units across most Iranian provinces, as well as the recent nationwide boycott of the sham elections, demonstrate that the regime’s overthrow is within reach. This is the correct path to establish democracy in Iran and promote peace in the region and the world. The current situation calls for the international community to adopt an unwavering policy towards the religious dictatorship ruling Iran.” She further emphasized, “Concrete measures must be taken to address the suppression of the Iranian people and the regime’s warmongering in the region. It is crucial to implement comprehensive sanctions, including those on oil trade and banking activities.
